Growing for our Local School Systems

We’re so excited to have received the RFP (request for proposal) for Frederick County Public Schools again this year! It is a two-year commitment that we received for the first time in 2022 and are really happy that we were able to renew it again in 2024. We're so excited to be regularly serving students in Frederick and also Montgomery county public schools.

This past week was also Homegrown Farm to School Lunch Week in Maryland and we were so delighted to have been a part of the celebration at Waverley Elementary School! Our team was a part of the sweetest assembly for the well-behaved 3rd graders that included a fun apple-picking demo by Catoctin Mountain Orchard. We heard from the school Superintendent Dr. Dyson and the Secretary of Ag Kevin Atticks.

All the farmers presented then also read a Farm to Table story to a 3rd grade class and led them through an activity about where their food comes from! Michael, a former 3rd grade teacher himself, is pictured above comfortably reading to a class.

We LOVE growing for schools and seeing healthy, organic and local produce represented in the cafeterias. It fills my heart with joy that we get to be a part of this critical farm to school movement — making EVERY week farm to school week!

PS — we saw our Farm to School radish cards for the first time!! So many kids are surprised to see a young female farmer!
