What do farmers do during spring?

Spring has sprung! This is the time of year when we kick it into a higher gear at the farm. With the weather slowly starting to get warmer and the early season flowers starting to bloom, we are busy breaking ground in the first early spring fields. We're prepping beds for potatoes, kales, collard greens, salad, spinach, scallions + more! Our greenhouse is really filling up and we are also prepping for our upcoming plant sales.

Thanks to our high tunnels, we're off to a fantastic start this season! These structures allow us to extend the growing season by protecting tender crops from unpredictable weather, ensuring we can provide early access to crisp greens and other spring favorites. They also allow us to not only get ahead in spring but extend into the fall!

We're excited to bring you all the first tastes of spring soon—keep an eye out for fresh spinach, lettuce, radishes, scallions, turnips, mustard mix, kale, collards and more in your CSA shares + a la carte!

We’re always working to bring you the freshest, most nutrient-dense produce possible. But as farmers, we’re seeing firsthand how climate change and shifting frost dates are affecting the way we grow food.

Unpredictable frosts, heavier rains, and longer droughts make it harder to plan and plant, but we’re adapting! We use high tunnels, soil-building techniques, and climate-smart growing practices to protect our crops and keep your favorite vegetables available longer.

In early spring this is a very difficult challenge, but we are rising to it! We are extending the season with high tunnels to shield plants from frost. We’re also building healthy soil that holds moisture during droughts and prevents erosion from heavy rains. Using sustainable and organic methods to manage pests that thrive in warmer winters also helps.

We’re so excited to share our spring produce with you and are grateful for your support!
